Proactive care

We find problems before you notice them

Compatible equipment may support remote health checks and troubleshooting. The service team can confirm what is visible, what can be repaired remotely, and which care plans are currently available.

What can we monitor?

  • Whether most of your network-connected devices are up and running.
  • Health of many connected AV devices and light switches (availability varies by manufacturer).
  • Internet up/down state and average upload/download speeds.

What can’t we monitor?

  • Quality of audio or video — a connected media player may show online while playback still has issues.
  • Apps or services inside connected devices (e.g. Netflix erroring within a working Apple TV).
  • Toasters, wicker baskets, toilets, major home appliances (yet), pets, kids, plant life, or threats from zombies.

Frequently asked questions

Life Safety

What is a security system?

A system designed to detect intrusion — unauthorized entry — into a building or area. Security systems are used in residential, commercial, industrial and military properties for protection against burglary or property damage, as well as personal protection against intruders.

How is a wireless home security system different from wired systems?

A fully wireless system uses individual sensors throughout the home which communicate wirelessly to the central control panel, which then communicates to the outside world using a cellular uplink — essentially a cell phone of its own. A fully hardwired system connects the sensors to the control panel with a network of wires concealed within the walls and floors of your home.

Are you able to monitor my current home security system?

We are able to monitor almost every type of security system, and we’ll happily do a free consultation of your current system. Call the office at 239-597-9077 to set up an appointment.

Do I need a home phone or internet to get a security system installed?

No. Cellular can offer nearly the same level of reliability as traditional phone lines when battery units are well-maintained. Traditional phone lines are still the most reliable for alarm communications but lack the speed and features of newer technologies; internet is becoming more reliable, especially when properly installed with battery backup.

What happens when my home alarm goes off and I am not there?

The signal is received at the monitoring center, and the operator attempts to contact the first person on your call list. If no answer, they call the second person; if still no answer, they dispatch the police and try the third contact. If contact is made, a passcode must be given to cancel the call — an incorrect code still results in dispatch.

Will my dog or cat set off the motion detector?

Pets can set off motion detectors, but we can adjust as needed. There are also alternatives to motion detection — like glass-break sensors — your consultant can discuss.

If I lose power, will my alarm still work?

Backup duration depends on the panel, battery condition, connected devices, and system configuration. Contact service to confirm the expected behavior of your installed system.

Whole Home Entertainment & Smart Home

What is a smart home?

Smart home technology connects compatible systems such as lighting, audio, video, climate, pools, and security so they can be controlled through approved interfaces.

What happens to my smart home system if I move?

If your current system is wireless, we can simply transfer your hardware to your new home. If your new home needs to be wired, we’ll accommodate your wiring needs at a competitive price.

Can I control my smart home with my smartphone?

Yes — lighting, climate, and more can be programmed and controlled from smartphones and tablets, putting your home in the palm of your hand.

How many devices can control my smart home?

As many smartphones, PCs, or tablets as you want, all with access to the app.

Cameras & Surveillance

What happens if one of my cameras stops working?

Call the office at 239-597-9077 and speak to our service team — we can guide you through troubleshooting, and if that doesn’t get your camera back online, we’ll schedule a service technician for a nominal fee.

What video services are offered?

Total Connect video provides live look-ins and records clips when motion is detected, with quick event search from the app. DVR and NVR services provide real-time recording, live look-in, playback, and on-site storage — typically an average of 30 days of recording time.

Am I able to snapshot an intruder?

Yes — you can pull video footage, save clips, and take snapshots in real time.

Who monitors my cameras when I am not home?

You can have our monitoring center monitor your cameras while you’re away, or retrieve historical footage from the system yourself.

Warranty & Service

What is the warranty on my equipment?

Most of our equipment carries one year of parts and labor. Your account manager can confirm what your equipment allows.

What if the equipment is struck by lightning?

Lightning is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty — refer to your homeowners insurance to verify coverage, or ask your sales consultant about surge protection options.

Do I have to register my equipment?

No — we handle registering your equipment with the manufacturer.

Does my contract automatically renew after it expires?

Renewal and cancellation terms depend on the agreement you signed. Review your contract or contact the office for account-specific guidance.

Can I get out of my contract?

You can cancel at the end of your signed contract; check with your sales consultant on your terms.

Will I be notified about new technology or upgrades?

If you’re on our email list, we’ll keep you updated on new technology that could enhance your system.
